THE FEMALE BODY
Unknowing to myself, the concept of the female body has in some way been a part of my work right from the beginning of my creative mind. There seems to be certain aspect that depicts a sense of the female body in nearly every series of work i create unconsciously.
However, the series titled Deconstruction of the Self was the starting point of my slight obsession of the female body – in essence my own body. By turning the camera on myself, i began to notice a pattern within my work as well as in my literature. I found myself asking questions about myself as a female alongside aspects of other females.
Within my research i found myself being drawn into both feminist art as well as fetishistic art which completely contradict each other in certain understandings. I am fascinated with both the physical and emotional aspects of the female body, and how we are portrayed by females and depicted by males.
