EXHIBITIONS

Art exhibitions include an array of artifacts from countless forms of human making: paintings, drawings, crafts, sculpture, video installations, sound installations, performances, interactive art, etc. Art exhibitions may focus on one artist, one group, one genre, one theme or one collection; or may be organized by curators, selected by juries, or show any artwork submitted.

Visiting relevant or no relevant exhibitions can be a critical part of primary and secondary research in terms of artist research, presentational skills, curatorial skills as well as introducing yourself to different mediums, contexts and ideas, which could help generate and develop your own creative imagination.

Personally i find exhibitions a great eye opener to other artists who find inspiration within the same subject, but with differing interpretations. It is this aspect of exhibitions that allows me to grow as a practicing artist, forcing me to use my own Initiative when it comes to using my imagination.

Throughout my current practice i have found three past exhibitions that i would of benefited from seeing – however, researching and seeing the photographs of the work that was on show has spurred on my work in the direction of the female body.
