THE FEMALE VAGINA
Whilst delving into the topic of Hysteria, and researching its historical meanings, i became interested in this disease that is barely known in today’s society. I had never heard of such a diagnosis before and found myself wanting to gain more and more knowledge surrounding its symptoms, treatments and mental health understandings.
This became the initial starting point for the reason i began to focus the idea of the female body towards that of the female vagina – again a taboo subject to delve into in terms of art at my age.
The idea of re-creating depictions of the vagina within mixed media was to gain understanding of the vagina’s physical attributes, without studying and trying to create a replica.
My depicts of the vagina is not modeled on any vagina in particular, it is my own interpretation of the vagina, it is not perfect, no two are the same, they are all individual.
