SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED – STITCH WORK

The starting point for this series came from weekly magazines that publish everyday real life stories, stories that leave people devastated yet grateful for the life they live. This gave me the idea of taking something that’s seen as disgusting, repulsive even nauseating, and turn it in to something so beautiful that it gives off a sense of elegance and naivety to the viewer. The idea to incorporate sexually transmitted infections and diseases was the initial beauty of colour and pattern found under a microscope – however, if you have one of these STD/ STI’s it would be neither beautiful or elegant – it would be the complete opposite.
